Here is the layout for a Dvorak keyboard

There are all sorts of claims that this keyboard allows for a superior typing speed when compared to a QWERTY keyboard. For an image of a QWERTY keyboard look down at your keyboard, there is 99.9% chance is that you have a QWERTY (look at the first row of letters).

I will update this page further when I have fully learned the keyboard or at the very least a status of when I start attempting to learn Dvorak and my progress.

02/22/2007

Well I finally bit the bullet and started learning the Dvorak key layout. After about a day I have the whole layout in my mind and I can type without looking at the keyboard. However it's rather slow going the moment and being a software engineer (i.e., my job requires lots of typing) it's an excruciating experience.

09/24/2006:

My brother and I managed to clean up a keyboard very nicely. At least for his keyboard he said that it would be pure insanity to attempt the use of sugar to scrape of the lettering of a keyboard. I detailed the method we used to clean the main 61 keys of the keyboard over on that page, so I won't repeat it here.

09/22/2006:

My current plan is to hit up a local university surplus store to get a cheap keyboard. A friend suggested clearing off the characters on the keyboard with sugar and plastic wrap (the sugar acts as a mild abrasive). I'm probably gonig to just use acetone...I'll update how badly it damages the plastic.
