I biked over to my brothers the other day and he was admidst a game of sim city 2000, but when he exited the game all hell broke loose...well really we just started laughing. He was in a dos shell and all the keys on his keyboard were ripped off. No fear, he was able to punch ALT+TAB with some random pens lying around his desk.
Our Method
240 grit sand paper on an ovular shaped 4oz platic bottle, that used to hold some generic brand of alcohol hand santizer. I just held the bottle and sand paper with my left hand and rubbed the keys, which I held in my right hand. We found if I rubbed off the lettering just to the point it was baerly visable or just gone, it was the perfect time to hand it over to be acetoned.
Acetone was then used to smooth the keys via melting them slightly. My brother would wipe them and then run them under a blow dryer on low to dry them off before the acetone did more damage then good. We used "towel in a box" shop towell.
