Officially the BT has been put to rest.  Work, distraction on other projects and a general lack in progress have made the decision to pack up the BT an easy decision.  Reassembly is nearly complete and a junk company has agreed to take the Probe away and pay me at the same time.  Which is not a bad deal, especially taking into account the near impossibility in towing a Probe with a Civic.

For those wracked in tears, cheer up.  While reassembling, my brother decided the general idea and planning should not go to waste.  We have started, at the other extreme, designing the electrical system for a small remote control style vehicle.  Assuming work progresses there may someday be a full-size version of what we hopped the Bad Tranny to be.

Well, my dad is coming to town this weekend.  I think between him, my brother, a friend and myself we can hack out the engine one way or the other.  Oh and we'll pull the tranny too!  Everyone search for a new manual transmission for me and let me know where I can buy one!!

It looks as if I've been slacking off with updating recently!  To be honest not much work has gotten done.  A breaker bar was broken the Friday after thanksgiving, and then not much was done until this past Sunday 12/10/2006.  A friend, my brother and I worked on removing the steering knuckles, drive axles, transmission splash shield and the cross member support from under the engine.  The last piece of work is to find the access to the torque converter nuts, which is supposedly accessed through the lower access panel on the transmission.  After much on vehicle disassembly and no solution, we think the bottom section of the engine, which has the oil pan attached must be dropped to access the torque converter bolts.  Conveniently enough most automatic transmissions from this kind of car have an access point near/at the starter access hole, but there is no such luck here, or at least the manual tells me so!

Well, my brother and I went back and forth on a number of wild plans for dropping the engine and transmissin down out of the bottom of the car.  The end result was we found a couple of engine lifts around town for just over $100 to purchase.  Being far safer we went with that option...I guess we are getting soft in our old age.  With all the running around, hashing up ideas, and buying engine lifts, we didn't actually remove anything from BT.  The goal will be to lift out the engine by or on this weekend.  The 400lb baby (the engine) will be set onto the engine skid we constructued, so it can wheel around the garage.

Check out the pictures I posted of the Engine skid and the Engine Lift!

Coolant system, fusebox, air intake, exhaust, front side quarter panels and the hood have all been removed.  See the BT beginning work page for some shots.  We planned to have the engine out this coming Saturday, but it seems my brother has made other plans.  I'll probably try and drop it myself!  It should also be noted that my Brother and I are developing a rather large layout of parts/tasks required, so we'll put that up here at some point when it is better organized or if people ask enough.
